Pitch Count & Rest Day Calculator

PitchCountCalculator.com helps coaches and parents make safer pitching decisions using age-based guidelines and evidence-supported rest rules. Enter a player’s league age, total pitches, and game date to quickly see how many pitches they can safely throw today and when they’ll be eligible to pitch again. The tool is built for live game use on a phone, and the guides on this site explain how pitch counts work and how to keep young arms healthy all season.

How this pitch count calculator works

This tool uses common youth baseball pitch count rules, similar to Little League and other national guidelines, to help you quickly check if a pitcher is within their daily limit and how much rest they need.

  • Select the player’s league age (not just school grade).
  • Use the live pitch counter at the bottom of the screen to tap +1 for every pitch.
  • When the outing is over, hit “Calculate Now” to fill in the total and run the calculation.
  • Review the max pitches, pitches remaining, required days of rest, and next eligible day to pitch.

Always follow your league’s official rules and any medical advice you receive. This calculator is a helpful guide, not a replacement for your rulebook or your best judgment.

Pitch Count FAQ

These answers are for general guidance only. Always confirm with your league’s official rules and follow medical advice when needed.

How many pitches can my child throw in one game?
It depends on league age. Many youth leagues use limits similar to Little League: around 50 pitches for ages 7–8, 75 for 9–10, 85 for 11–12, and 95 for 13–16. This calculator uses those style limits as a guideline. For a deeper breakdown, see our age-by-age pitch count guide.
How do you calculate days of rest?
Days of rest are based on how many pitches are thrown in a single day. Higher pitch counts require more rest. After you enter age, pitches thrown, and game date, the calculator shows the recommended rest and next eligible day to pitch. For a full explanation of rest rules, check the 2025 Pitch Count Rules Guide.
Is this tool official for my league?
No. This site is a helpful reference for coaches and parents, not an official rulebook. Always follow your league’s published rules and any instructions from your board or tournament director. Many leagues publish their own local pitch count rules you should review.
Can I use this live during games?
Yes. The floating pitch counter at the bottom of the screen is designed for in-game use on a phone. Tap +1 for each pitch, then hit “Calculate Now” to run the full pitch count and rest day calculation. You can also refer to our guide to protecting young pitchers’ arms for more safety tips.
